  1. Its been 4 or 5 years since I stayed at the Swan Inn opp Dawin but it was nice enough back then. Since then I've heard average reports, like the above. There are quite a few of these places now there are a few in the alleys opp the Rajah car park too), so if you're not intending to pre book you're probably better of walking in and insisting on checking the rooms first before committing.
  2. Might depend on the time of day or night. In any case, from Sukhumvit Rd to the end where Maxim's is its only about a 1 minute walk, less than 100 meters.
  3. That was back in Jan. there has been a crackdown on Xanax of late and it seems a lot harder to get. Last time the guy in the pharmacy looked me up and down and took some time in deciding beforing selling me some. I think he remembers me.
  4. Yes, there are definitely a couple opposite the Rajah Hotel car park, either side of a 7/11, that seem to have a few LB's, although not exclusively.
  5. Don't know but the (larger) pharmacy next to Bully's pub near the corner of Suk and Soi 4 has a large amount of stock and worth asking. The "z" class of drug is harder to get in Thailand though and the best you may be able to get is Valium or Xanax (if your lucky). As with most pharmacies, always worth asking for the type of med (Eszopiclone) as it may not be branded in Thailand as Lunesta.
  6. I've stayed there a few times and very nice. Usually a little out of my price range and I stay at the Dawin but always keep an eye out for any specials and have occasionally stayed there for what I would have paid for at the Dawin. The only thing is, wifi isn't always complimentary so you need to check.
  7. Looks nice, but has the 'short time hotel' look written all over it.
  8. +1 This is where I usually stay, or Phachara Suites if they have a special.
  9. Heaps of options. If you are looking for somewhere in-between the two then there are places on Soi 8/11.
  10. I've never done it but I guess if you don't have much luggage and you're staying near a BTS it would be ok. Personally for an extra B200 ($7) or so I like the convenience of a taxi. Its no big deal after forking out $1000+ for a flight...then again, there is Bkk traffic to contend with at certain times.
  11. All depends on your budget. My preference is The Dawin (B1800 p/n on average). Well located, clean, GF, small roof top pool, excellent service.
  12. There's a number of clubs that get going around that time. Climax, Insomnia (both popular) and Liquid (struggling) are in the area and a few higher class places a cab ride away. Outside Nana and along Sukhumvit mobile bars are set up with tables and chairs and you can drink away the night.
  13. 4th floor of the MBK shopping mall. BTS to Siam or National Stadium.
  14. This has been known to happen at quite a few hotels, although its the first time I've heard of Dynasty doing it. I always print the confirmation email (or similar) and reconfirm my booking 1 week prior to arriving and print that also to present if required when checking in.
  15. There is an Ibis on Soi 4...about 5 minute walk to Nana Plaza.
  16. Friday and Saturday are a little busier, especially towards the end of the month but its not a huge difference. Still plenty to do on a Sunday/Monday, it could just as well be a Wed/Thurs. Always plenty going on.
  17. Very girl friendly. In fact some of the rooms (lower floors) are used as short time by Thermae girls...but dont let that put you off...the refurbished rooms (higher floors) are quite nice.
  18. Ruamchitt above the Thermae Bar is ok value if you book on of the newer rooms. Pretty much inbetween Nana and Cowboy and has a nice, seldom used rooftop pool.
  19. Yep, I go to the larger place next door, but prices are generally the same.
  20. I like the place on the corner of Suk and Soi 5...you can eat at the bar and watch the world go by.
  21. Thanks for the heads up and welcome to the board.
