  1. I was wondering what these vehicles are called and how much they charge? They seem to operate on soi 39 and beyond.
  2. Hyde and Seek gastropub is still one of the best places to grab a craft cocktail and dinner in Bangkok. The pork belly is amazing, add some garlic smashed potatoes along with their Caesar salad and you are set.
  3. Octave rooftop bar is perched on the 48th floor of the new Thonglor Marriott. Great cocktails and totally unobstructed view of metro Bangkok.
  4. Tried out Din Tai Fung at Central Embassy for their famous Xiao long bao soup dumplings. Also had house special fried rice, crispy wonton, accompanied by their special salad and some aged oolong tea.
  5. Tori Tori Chicken on soi Thonglor is a great spot for a snack. I had the famous chicken wings, stingray fin, fried rice, house salad, yakitori sticks, and washed it down with a Hitachino ale served from frozen beer taps. I need to try the chicken ass next time!
  6. One of my Bangkok favorites is Soul Food Mahanakon on soi thonglor. Its thai food with a western twist, great cocktails and service. I had the smoked chicken, pomelo salad, and crab fried rice.
  7. Peppina officially takes over as bangkok's best pizza! I had the D.O.P. pizza and the rocket salad. The crust was crisp, light, and fluffy all at the same time. The ingredients are imported from Italy as expected and executed by a real Italian pizzaolo. The washrooms have a cool wooden basin that I had to take a picture of. Its located on soi 31 and prom chit alley.
  8. Located on soi 22 this shop specialty is the thinly sliced roast pork. I had the tonkotsu ramen, the roast pork with spicy negi, and the gyoza. I've had better tonkostu in Bangkok(Bankara) but the roast pork here is very tasty and the gyoza is presented with a crispy rice sheet that I have never seen before. Its worth checking it out!
  9. This guys wanton soup is totally delicious, only 50 baht so I had 2 portions. The broth has a light pork and chicken flavor, maybe even a little bit of shrimp too. There is roast pork, wantons, and crabmeat. The noodles are cooked perfectly, nice and chewy. He must pump out at least 300 or so orders a night.
  10. Tried out Hot Star XXL fried chicken in the Emquartier food court. This is a Taiwanese chain that is recognized as one of the countries top 10 national foods. I was the 3rd person in line right at opening time, after I got my ticket the line exploded into a 2 hour wait!. Its a butterflied chicken breast with seasoning, the batter was crisp and the chicken was moist.
  11. This is hands down the best Ramen shop in Bangkok. They have fresh garlic cloves with a press that you can add to your ramen. I ate there 4 times, the intensity of pork flavor in the tonkotsu broth is second to none!
  12. Stayed here during Songkran for 10 days @ $38 US per night. They ask for a 1000 baht deposit which was no problem. Very clean and modern rooms only a short walk to Nana Plaza. The staff was excellent and had no problems bringing back bar girls every night. The cleaning lady was meticulous and I always came back to my room sparkling clean. The doorman was also very helpful in calling me a cab at 5am for my departure. I would definitely stay here again but it looks like they're getting booked like crazy. Heres a pic from the 6th floor pool area.
  13. Hello I was planning my next mongering trip to BKK and was looking for suggestions on hotels which allow 3somes with minimal or no fees for the 2nd joiner. I have been to BKK 5 times and stayed at girl friendly places but they either did not allow a 2nd joiner or charged like 1000baht for the person. Thanks!
