  1. Is it acceptable in any culture to hit someone on the head? I imagine that it would result in a melee just about anywhere... Also never seen anyone hit someone in the head unless they are fighting in the years I've been living here.
  2. I'd also be interested in prices for both places.
  3. To be honest, 1200 is a really good rate if you are on Sukhumvit between SC and Nana and you'll be hard pressed to find a hotel for 1000 or under unless you go to a short time hotel. Even Nana hotel is about 1500 baht per night. 1200=$33.74 1000=$28.13 If you were to go outside of the area and pay only 1000 baht, just remember that taxi fees going back and forth. Let's just say 50 baht to and fro and you've only save 100 baht... and that's if you're lucky to not get stuck in traffic. The other option is to find a guest house for 400-800 baht which probably will have wifi, but you won't be able to boink girls in your bunkbed. If at all possible, I'd keep the room at that rate. 1000 a very very hard to come by for a nice room close to the action. Or if you're going to stay for a long time do some footwork and look for "room for rent" signs... Sometimes they will have weekly rates in which you can swing 800 baht per night or so. Tether your phone data connection for somewhat of a wifi experience.
  4. Looks good... But Soi 38 is too far for soup!
  5. Never had trouble bringing an 18 year old girl to any hotel in BKK. Some discos do not allow under 20's because they are not allowed to buy alcohol and discos do not card when ordering. It's legal for them to drink, but not buy. It would be easier to name the hotel that did not allow the 19 year girl to go to your room as it's pretty uncommon for hotels in BKK to deny a girl as long as she is of age. Did you look at her ID yourself? It's also possible that they suspected her ID was fake or her age was listed as younger than what she told you, but they did not explain to you.
  6. It's might take you 10 minutes to walk from Dream Hotel to Sukhumvit if you crawl on your hands and knees. I've stayed there and I can't remember it taking me any more than 3 minutes. I think Dream has one of the best locations and the price vs what you get is really good there.
  7. Just a suggestion, but clothes are so cheap in Thailand, you could buy a new ensemble every day for the same cost as the added premium that you're going to pay for a room with a washer/dryer.
  8. If this escalates it will takes years for the country to change. Basically you will have about a million unskilled bargirls and families with no means to support themselves. Many working girls are supporting 5-6 people, so working at 7-11 won't cut it. Think of all the soapy massage cathedrals that will lose their value and be standing empty memories of things that used to be. There would need to be a huge government support program to help people out. Not only that, a huge chunk of tourists will simply stop coming. It's not a secret that a large portion of the tourism industry is related to the Thai poontang that's available. The Japanese businessmen will hate coming here... How often do you see the Jap men in the waters swimming? My opinion is that they are cracking down on street walkers because it is obvious and unregulated prostitution. There is no law that you can't "barfine" a girl from an establishment, and what happens after is up to you. The bars pay taxes, so a portion of the barfine is going back into their hands. Could it happen? Possibly... But I think unlikely. The streetwalkers just need to move into a disco or something and make their transaction in a private place. When there are ladyboys and girls in short dresses standing around doing nothing and/or soliciting it screams "prostitutes' to the family tourists, and I feel this is the "image" they are trying to clear. I really don't think the Junta will shut down all p4p as it's part of Thai's history.
  9. I generally don't like to fill myself with alcohol unless there is a lady involved, so I don't bother going to Khao San without a girl in tow. To be honest, it really isn't anything special. Just some bars, street food, and overprice crap for sale. However, I've always had a good time due to whatever lady I had with me. Girls tend enjoy it as it's the one touristy falang area that has no connection to sex. I find the Khao San "after party" better than Khao San itself
  10. Just FYI... You can easily have your iPhone unlocked without handing over your phone to anyone, jailbreaking, or inserting any special sims into your phone. Just purchase an iPhone unlocking service for a few bucks off of eBay. I have unlocked 3 AT&T iPhones this way already. I never paid more than 5 bucks for this service, but make sure you read the sellers reviews to make sure they are legit before buying. Once you purchase the service you will be asked to provide IMEI number or something to the seller. 24 hours later you will get a notice your phone is unlocked. At that point you will need to do a complete reinstall of iTunes, and viola your phone is unlocked! http://www.ebay.com/sch/Specialty-Services-/316/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=unlock+iphone How does this work? The guys who are selling this service are underpaid AT&T employees. If you purchased your iPhone second hand, make sure you aren't "Blacklisted" for having a lost or stolen phone or something as a standard unlock is impossible on these phones.
  11. Great pics.... Patpong kicks ass. Unlike you, I always barfine from there though. Haha And Soi Thaniya is amazing aside from the fact that it's not farang friendly. I feel so jealous of the Japs when I walk down there as there are hundreds of smoking hot girls dressed all cute and waiting to get plowed by whatever Jap takes them and they seem so aggressive when they see a Jap guy walk by. Only twice have I been offered services when I walked down Soi Thaniya, but both times I turned it down as I already was headed somewhere. Oh well, Patpong 1 and 2 still have plenty of farang friendly girls. Also, there are very few Japs in Patong 1&2 probably because Soi Thaniya is close by.
  12. I went to Soi 11 the other day with a lady specifically to hit the cheap cocktail bars! I was so bummed and confused when none of them were there. Those things were the perfect place for a quick windown after hitting one of the Soi 11 discos or to get a little bit tipsy on the cheap before catching a taxi home. There's still the tiny sukhumvit bars, but those bars give off a sleeze vibe that the Soi 11 bars did not. Soi 11 is now quite a bit more lame.
  13. 2000 baht for 50 pills is a good price. I usually pay 100-120 baht per box of 4 sideagra, and about 100 baht per satchel of kamagra jelly. Last time I went to my regular he charged me 200 baht per box of Sideagra, but maybe because I forgot to verify the price before hand. I didn't complain though as it's only a couple bucks more and I only buy a couple boxes at once. 200 baht for box is my limit though.
  14. I have my empty bottle prescription with me as well. Out of curiosity where did you go inside of the hospital? Did you have to have an appointment and all that or did you roll up to the hospital pharmacy? My insomnia is getting to me... would love to have the occasional Xanax to calm my nerves.
  15. The Continent Hotel, right next to Soi Cowboy. Executive suite has huge freestanding tub sitting right beside floor to ceiling windows with view of the city. Stayed there once last year and it was great. Girl friendly also.
  16. Wish I knew where to get Xanax. Actually have a prescription from the doc in US, but I am too lazy to go to the hospital for a Thai prescription. Great for anxiety and insomnia.
  17. Stayed here once last year. I am surprised that people review this hotel so highly. I booked 3 nights here last year due to the great price VS the star rating. When you look at the map on Agoda or on their website it looks like it is very close to Sukhumvit, so I was immediately put off by how far away it was in reality. I was so annoyed by this. Upon a arrival, my room wasn't ready and it was well after checkout time for everyone so that also irritated me a little bit. I left my bags with the bellboy and walked towards nana... By the time I arrived at Nana I was dripping in sweat. Once I got back an hour later I was drenched and decided I would take the tuk-tuk any other time I wanted to go out (as advertised). Anyway, I went in the room to shave and shower to find that the water in the sink did not run hot! It wasn't even lukewarm really. Shaving with cold water sucks. I got in the shower and they had a strange lever for the shower which made it not very clear on how to adjust the temperature so I ended up taking a rather cold shower as well. I later through trial and error figured out how to make the water in the shower hot, but there was no hot water in the sink at all. More negatives about my room: 1. The bathroom was getting way too moldy and gross looking, and there was no shelf in the shower to place soap. You basically had to sit your soap on the floor... LOL 2. My bed had been made, but there were still crumbs of food or something on the floor and ladies hair was still very visible and throughout the room. 3. The drinks inside of the refrigerator were sticky as if another drink had exploded on them. 4. There were two lights that were broken in the bedroom, and the one working wasn't that bright, so I could only get somewhat dim lighting in the bedroom portion. Given that I like to boom boom with girls in a nice bright room where I can see everything, that sucked. 4. Not a 4 or 4/12 star hotel as advertised. Would barely pass as a 3 star hotel really... I've stayed in better 3 stars in BKK. 5. Could hear the Arabs speaking loudly in the hall and even in their rooms talking as if they are yelling constantly. Also could hear every time a door was closed. I imagine if you're fucking everyone can hear you. The only thing I enjoyed about the room was that the internet worked without any issues. I noticed when I checked in that there were an unusual amount of Arabs and guys wearing turbans everywhere. I don't discriminate about anyone, but going to a hotel in Thailand that seemed to cater to Arabs and not so many westerners around made me feel a bit out of place. I shrugged it off though. The first night I decided to head out to Nana to play and when I went downstairs I asked for a tuk tuk and the response I got was a snide look and "no have"... What the fuck? Why advertise free tuk tuk and then only say "no have." They didn't say he was on a trip and would be back shortly or that he would be back tomorrow or offer any explanation. Just "no have." Pissed me off. I walked again from the hotel to Nana and the walk seemed dangerous to me. There were portions of the trip that were not lit very well and I could easily see myself getting mugged on the way, and I couldn't fathom getting a girl to walk back with me that far. I arrived at Nana dripping in sweat and feeling terrible. After I was finished with Nana I walked back and cancelled the next two nights. Next night went to another hotel and was relieved. Wouldn't ever stay at Boss again.
  18. Yep, I don't bother with Patts anymore. The prices for Go-Go's is now more expensive in Patts and the quality of girls is not as good as BKK. Why bother going to Pattaya? This price change is rather recent though (over the last year or so), so I expect eventually people will catch on and BKK will pick up or BKK prices will go up to match. Don't go around telling everyone. The vast majority of mongers still think that Pattaya is a deal over BKK ... lol Only reason I can see to go to Pattaya is if you: 1. Are more into Beer Bar girls and freelancers than hot go-gos. There are more beer bars there and more freelancers. 2. You are into Ladyboys. Tons and tons of ladyboys in Patts. 3. You like to drink a lot- Prices for drinks and beer are still wayyyy cheaper than BKK
  19. Prices are all over the place for this stuff. Also I find that many pharmacies run out of stock while others gain stock. I had one pharmacy quote me 780 baht for a box of 4 sideagra. I asked him if he was being serious then laughed and walk away. Walked two blocks got the same box for 200 baht.
  20. Holy shit.... 22% of streetwalkers have HIV? How can you not think that is high? That's insanely high. 2.5% for the girls working in bars is pretty high too, but that 20+% figure should be have alarm bells going off.
  21. Da fuck? Who gets circumcized as an adult. Keep your foreskin. A lot of circumcized guys would kill to have theirs back.
