Solitaire Bangkok vs Kingston Suite
Skepti10 replied to Kandawsonbkk's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
I was in Kingston suites at the end of December. IMO the hotel is not as good as it used to be. The rooms are getting older and some of the facilities aren't working as they should. If you think you are getting a good deal, sure go for it. But personally they're no longer one of my go to hotels. -
I just stayed 2 nights there. The rooms are modern and clean. Convenient to nana. The roof top bar makes a tasty cocktail and has decent views. Worth checking out if you can find a good price. Fyi the check in is separated, the lower rooms are for ibis and higher rooms for Novotel. For now they share a breakfast area though. Lastly, there's no business lounge which is a shame.

Four Points by Sheraton, Sukhumvit soi 15

Oops my bad, must've been rushing and only saw Sheraton. In any case, Sheraton is fantastic and I would recommend wholeheartedly. -

Excellent hotel, super convenient for soi cowboy. the room I stayed in previously overlooked lake ratchada. Girl friendly also. -
kind of a survey on airbnb topic

Agree with others, either renting the whole apartment or not at all. No need to rent just a room for somewhere as cheap as Bangkok. -
MRSA Staph Infection - The 'new' Superbug STD & My Experience With It
Skepti10 replied to johnrig's topic in Health Issues
Staph infections are no joke, they absolutely can kill people if left untreated. Sorry to hear buddy. -
What is the "standard" price for a moto between SC and NEP? 40-50b?

Need help picking Hotel (Citichic vs Citrus 13)
Skepti10 replied to pdr3's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Unless you're going to taxi to/from your hotel every time I would suggest the hotel closer to sukh road. Girls aren't going to want to walk that far. Hotel gyms are pretty terrible in terms of weights anyway. I would suggest Kingston suites. Great rooms, large bathrooms, walkable to sukh road, can use the (crappy) gym of an affiliated hotel next door. -
Re: STD Checks / taking antibiotics just in case

Use a rubber. Do NOT take antibiotics unless a doctor tells you to. -
Guest friendly hotel with fitness centre

Jasmine city hotel was quite nice a few years ago -
I've always used dtac, no complaints. Ais seems reasonable too.
-
I've stayed at of of their suites for a week a while back. Rooms are perfectly acceptable but the property is a few minutes away from the main road, meaning girls won't be thrilled walking there, and since it's a one way street cars will have to drive up soi 5 and loop around.

Hotel choice for cherry trip
Skepti10 replied to BigBadBob's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Yes its a good choice for your first trip. The clientele is almost entirely mongers so zero problems with staff, breakfast was provided when I was there 18 months ago, and in some rooms you can literally see the nep bars. It'd be perfect if it was cheaper though. -
hotels within 5 minutes walk of soy cowboy
Skepti10 replied to wangotango's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Jasmine city (jasmine suites) was pretty nice when I stayed there last year. Super close too. -
Ratchada/huai khwang is literally in the middle of soapy central, so technically you're still in the centre of the "night life". I've stayed here a few times, mostly budget places for only a few days each time and I found the level of english speakers drop dramatically once you leave sukhumvit/tourist-centric areas. Are you 100% set on being away from the nightlife?
-
I assume you mean crossing sukhumvit road. You can cross on several bridges, there's usually one every few hundred meters and you can cross at the bts station also. There's a fence separating the 2 sides and signs saying jaywalking has a 200b fine.

1. Nana plaza, soi 4. Thermae, ruamchitt hotel 2. You mean cosplay places where you can bang the girls? Or japanese looking thai girls?
-
I like their suites. Its a bit of a walk to the main street. I did see plenty of indian guests but over the period of a week I didn't have a single issue with any of them
-
If you're not planning on using it much then I recommend dtac. They have a 99b/30 days data pack charge that includes 100mb data. Excellent if your hotel had decent wifi

Firehouse Restaurant

I had the pulled pork burger here, very nice, highly recommended -
I paid 500 thb back in October when it was raining crazy heavy so I was ok with the 20% surcharge. Just make sure you confirm the price before getting in, and dont be afraid to wait for the next one if the first cab refuses to budge on price!

I've always found the portions were too small in the upper level food court area. Maybe its a thailand thing tho?
