  1. sorry to go off topic, but wheres back home? that sounds like one great strip club??
  2. Hi I have noticed quite a few spam posts hidden within some of the currently active topic. I have hit report on all the ones I have come across is this the best way to manage these? or is there a tool to hide/delete the post until further moderation?
  3. thought i'd reply to this as I have seen many of the shows listed on the "menu" over the years at various patpong venues, I think me and mate are actually one of the lucky few that seem to escape being scammed. Tip is to check with someone inside the club on costs before even sitting down. I once remember someone getting a bill for 4000 for a bowl of nuts that had been brought with drinks, he was told it was 200 for the nuts when the bill came it turned out it was actually 200 per nut!! Havent been to these places for a few years I think maybe the scamming is worse now than before, although I was impressed with the shooting darts, smoke rings and trumpet playing ;-)
  4. Oskar on Soi 11 offers some decent western food, this place has a bit of a clubby vibe so music can be quite loud downstairs although you can sit outside or upstairs. You can see their reviews on tripadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g293916-d2333660-Reviews-Oskar_Bistro-Bangkok.html
  5. If your in Banger on a weekend the Chatachuk market is a must visit (BTS stop mo chit) Seen Sirocco/Sky Bar mentioned above, but there are other great alternative rooftop bars especially with sirocco being busy from the 'hangover' tourists in the city including Vertigo Moon Bar @ Banyan Tree, Red Sky @ Centara Grand. Take a stroll in Lumphini Park if you fancy escaping the hustle of the city, try and spot some huge monitor lizards here. Some great bars and restaurants can be found out in Thong Lor
  6. if your in town on a weekend then check out Chatuchuk Market or also known as JJ Market, you can pick up anything you could want there.
  7. I always enjoy heading down to lumphini food market, so much choice and very cheap , great thai food and often live entertainment on the main stage. If your looking for something nice although both probably on the expensive side for bangkok take a look at longtable (suk soi 16, 25th floor of colomn building) and face restaurant on suk soi 38 offering thai, indian and japanese cuisine. Note smart dress is needed for either of these I'd also recommend booking rather than just turning up on the night.
  8. these were taken from Lebua in Oct 2009 only about half way up the tower! the view from the sky bar on the roof is fantastic.
  9. I've mostly used Latestays.com when visiting Thailand and never had any problems, however they do only show listings up to 2 weeks befor echeck in.
  10. thanks for mentioning the learn thai podcasts hadn't thought about looking in iTunes for some listening they even got the videos so can now pick them up on my phone where ever, when ever.
  11. Hi Irishfella, i stopped for one night before i flew out of bkk in november 09 at citadines soi 8 as the one on soi 11 was fully booked. Not stayed at the one on soi 11 but had it recommened by a good friend. The soi 8 one was very comfortable and very clean, would highly recommend. The staff were friendly they also offered a free tuk tuk to run you up the street to the BTS station. I booked through LateStays, if your booking for anytime within the next 2 weeks its one of he best sites for last minute hotels in asia.
  12. Sirocco is the restaurant on top of Lebua @ the state tower, if you just want a drink then you can goto the sky bar and its open air on the 64th floor (i think) nearest BTS is Saphin Taksin just walk up the street you'll see the hotel no worries. I actually prefer Vertigo the restaurant/bar is on top of the Banyan Tree on the Sathorn road, not far from the lumphini night bazaar. If you like your high bars with views Longtable is great for drinks although I must say had a fantastic meal there last time I was there too this is on 25th floor of the column building on suk soi 16 think nearest BTS is Asoke, this is also much less touristy than sirroco or banyan tree. All 3 are googleable.
