  1. The Google Fi experience has been mixed. Mostly okay in Japan, great in Thailand and would not work at all in Vietnam. I got a $12 USD Sim in Vietnam from the Hotel,4GB Data per day and 5G Service. I doubt I will use Google Fi after this trip. The only saving grace was I had to call London from Thailand and the call costs .20 cents a minute. In the future I will just get local SIM cards as I enter a new country.
  2. Thailand has good cel service with AIS, DTac,and True Move. I have used them before but this trip decided to try Google Fi unlimited plus. Google Fi uses all 3 of these networks. If for some reason, Google Fi disappoints, I will just get AIS SIM as I can cancel Google Fi at any time.
  3. I use Asavanant. Just off Thong Lo BTS. A bit more expensive that some, but very good and reasonable by US standards. http://www.asavanant.com/
  4. I always carry a laminated copy of my passport and that usually works when you need to present id. Do love the convenience of the rabbit card.
  5. I have stayed at The Raming Lodge, guest friendly and very convenient. Good breakfast as well.
  6. The Raming Lodge is a good choice, right on Loh Kroh Rd. http://www.raminglodge.com
  7. Thanks for the tips Realdaffeyduck. Will be there mid January.
  8. I think the Park at the entrance of Soi 10 has been sold to be developed into a Hotel/Condo Project. Any body seen any changes?
  9. I have stayed there before, nice simple Hotel and quiet. Little bit of a walk back from Sukhumvit, but the hotel will take you there when you are leaving from the hotel. The staff is good and breakfast is nice. Good value and GF.
  10. I am planning on a side trip to Cambodia and Vietnam next time I am in Thailand. Leave Bangkok for Hua Hin,then to PP. I hear there are options to take a boat from PP to Siam Reap. Anybody tried that?
  11. https://medlineplus.gov/mrsa.html Wow,hope you are doing better.
  12. I love Massage and Thailand has a very rich Traditional Massage Culture. However, quality varies and The Traditional Shops and Spa's generally have better trained Therapist. Age is also not a sure fire way to gauge experience. Trial and Error continues to be the only way to find what you like. Don't be shy about asking for soft or saying Bow bow. Not sure how it is spelled in Thai. Also, Cha Cha to go slow. Good luck, keep the faith, you will find what you seek.
  13. Do a search, there are several posts up on Chiang Mai. I like it, get a Hotel on Loi Kroh Rd. The Ramming Lodge is a reasonable choice in the middle of the action. Foxy Lady is nearby and is the only go go. There are a couple of Soapies near by,nearest one is just past the night market called CelebX,last I checked. I use Thai Airways or Air Asia, not sure about the others. Most things are cheaper there, lots of bargains at the night market. Plenty of options to play but nowhere like Bangkok or Pattaya. I always take the trip up to Doing Suthep,go early to avoid the Crowds. Be ready to see more Chinese travelers, they like Chiang Mai. The Elephant Sanctuary is also a nice day trip into the mountains.
  14. 55, I assume you mean Thai Herbal Ball Massage.
  15. Certainly pays to have a fully functional Smart phone and this is a great choice. Moto G plus 4th gen. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DZJFYLC/ref=twister_B01HJ30IO8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1Sprint Sprint phones use CDMA and ATT/T-Mobile use GSM, that is a what you need in Thailand. Best path from DFW is on American to Hong Kong 16.5 hrs., short layover then 2.5 hrs to Bangkok. I would stay near Nana on a first visit. Check out Dynasty Grand.
  16. Google Voice is 2 cents a minute from the US. Cost $20 to get a Google voice number and you prepay. You can call from Thailand to US for free if you are using wifi.
  17. Dynasty Grand on Soi 6 gets high marks and I will stay there on my next trip.
  18. I am planning on staying at The Dynasty Grand http://www.dynastygrande.com or Grand Sukhumvit http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-6171-grand-sukhumvit-hotel-bangkok/index.shtml depending upon my budget issues when I book my next trip.
  19. Be careful, here is THE CDC link on PEP http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/pep.html
  20. I have not stayed there but have always liked staying on Soi 8. Last two visits stayed at Sawasdee Sukhumvit Soi 8, inexpensive and farther down the Soi than Adelphi Suites. http://www.adelphisuites.com
  21. If your stomach is super sensitive or you have digestive issues; practice preventive medicine.G o to your local health food store and get some supplements. 1. Travelers Probiotics http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/using-probiotics-for-healthy-traveling/ 2. Get a Fiber Supplement and take daily 3. Consider adding Digestive Enzymes with meals, simple fix maybe try a chewable first. 4. Get a small bottle if Activated Charcoal. In the event of symptoms,at first chance take it. Activated Charcoal can work well if taken soon after first symptom. If all else fails,go to one of the many convenient Thai Pharmacies and get a stronger remedy. I also have a sensitive system and after 3 trips, not gotten sick. Enjoy and Eat what you want when you want, you will be fine.
  22. This site has a forum on South Korea, free with sign up but costs to get ROS " the rest of the story". http://eccie.net/showthread.php?t=1485743
  23. I used True on my recent trip. Great service and reasonable. True was the first to roll out 4G service. I got 4 GB if data for 500 THB.I had to purchase a little more talk time,300 THB. More than I could use in a month. Stayed off wifi for the most part because True Data was faster.
