  1. Taxis at airport should use the meter. Go to ticket machine go to bay number printed on it and as soon as the driver pulls up tell him meter. To Nana budget approx. 350THB which includes tolls (75) and airport fee (50) ARL / BTS will be about 65THB each As to which will be quickest option it depends on time of day and also the weather, rain produces grid lock around Nana area Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I know a couple dirt cheap places :) Get the OpenRice app and you should be able to search for something suitable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I now always use the ARL /MRT / BTS and travel with backpack and large suitcase. To Nana BTS the easiest way is get the ARL to Phayathai and the BTS to Nana. At Nana though you will have to carry your luggage down the stairs. I stay near Asok BTS / MRT and it’s easier to get to road level due to T21 shopping centre being attached to the stations. 4. Yes still in BKK, fly home on 29th. I'm finally walking again after that first day incident and swearing to never drink again... Fast Forward 1 week and it was 999THB for the rainbow shots and rainbow bombs (7 of each) at a bar in Ekkamai, I survived but the drinking partner did not and had to have the next day off work. What rate have you got at Aloft and how does the Four Points pricing compare? One tip if looking at the Four Points is also check the Westin as there can be occasions it is cheaper as was over Christmas / New Year when I looked at dates yesterday.
  5. I have stayed there a couple of times before, but not in the last 1 1/2 years. At the time the only complaints were musky damp smell in the room and the bed being a bit too firm for me, I like a softer work bench. So I swapped to the Four Points and have not been back. I believe some of the rooms have removed the carpet and gone to vinyl/ tile/ wood or similar flooring that has fixed the smell. I also see they advertise the work bench as plush platform or similar so would be interested if they have changed the mattresses to a newer one. If you have not already done so join up on the SPG rewards program or if your in Marriott link accounts and you can get extra 5% discount on room rates. When I did stay there I had no problem taking girls back to the room and buffet breakfast was simple but good. On a side note, I'm in Bangkok now and 1st day was drunken than a Tom Tit on a Bangkok weekend bender Hopefully I should be able to walk properly by the end of the week.
  6. Which Hilton in Bangkok are you looking at? There is the one on the river Millennium Hilton and the one down Soi 24 Hilton Sukhumvit. The Millennium is a bit far away from Nana / Cowboy where as Hilton Sukhumvit is closer but not as close as Majestic. The closest BTS station would be 5+ minute walk away then the BTS trip time. The advantage though is the area has massage shops and also Soi 22 and Queens Park Plaza is near by. Last year I stayed at Marriott Sukhumvit 57 and I found the distance to Nana manageable but I was spending the day in Soi 4 and then night in Soi 22.
  7. Le Meridian is nice but you pay for it - 3-4xxx THB a night +
  8. Does he walk with a limp or walking stick etc. ? There have been reports that the Immigration officers manning the lines send those who obviously have a issue with walking straight to the fast track lane. I would not count on it though and book the Fast track service and the cart from the arrival gate.
  9. hkaus72 what beers are available at the roof top bar? My local pub here at home is taking my regular beer - Lazy Yak off the tap and replacing it with Little Creatures Pale Ale.
  10. I have never stayed at a Hyatt property so can not comment on if any or all are girl friendly but have stayed at a few of the SPG and Marriott Properties in Bangkok and have had no issue, even when walking in with 2 girls or different girls in afternoon and then night.
  11. Scheduled to open in 3rd quarter 2018 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Also there is 2 Super Rich companies - Super Rich Green and Super Rich Orange. The branches exchange rate is usually slightly lower than the head office rate but not enough to worry about.
  13. To have an idea of on the ground exchange rates use https://daytodaydata.net Vasu on the corner of Soi 7/1 as mentioned is a convenient place and is open Monday to Saturday.
  14. I did 11 nights at Marriott Sukhumvit 57 earlier in the year and should of done them at Four Points only for the night credits on my SPG account. With another 13 nights at Four Points this year I would of re qualified as Gold again but am going to fall short. And it's 11 nights missed off my lifetime total, what was I thinking at the time  I walked into Four Points at end of August and I swear they said Welcome mrfreeze.... yes I stay there often but....
  15. Four Points is my go to Hotel each trip. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, no issue with guests, deep bath and depending on room shower large enough for 2 or 3, quiet location but near enough to SC and Nana depending on your mood. My only complaint would be every time I have the poached eggs on toast at breakfast they taste a bit like lemon... weird.
  16. Google turned up https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurants-g293916-c37-Bangkok.html I have been to El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse and thought it was over priced and the steak poor quality. I installed Openrice on my phone but don't really use it but have noticed there are reviews etc. so Thai's do use it.
  17. I have taken 2 girls back to the room for an overnight stay at Four Points before without any issue. Other times I have gone back to the room during the day or evening with 2 girls at The Westin and Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit and had no issue either. As mentioned above using the Soi 17 entrance at Four Points does not take you past the front desk but there are cameras in all the hallways so security would know.
  18. I have a short December trip booked and also looking at a short February trip before my April 2 week trip.... should just get one trip out of the way before booking another 555 Gibsons1 I’m Not sure what the Dream hotel is priced at but have a look at Four Points or even ALoft, both good hotels and good locations.
  19. Close, 4100 THB a night before tax and service fee's :D I seem to recall I have had a rate as low as 3800 or maybe slightly less in the past but that would be over a year ago I think. Dec 8-11 (Fri / Sat / Sun) is what I booked and looking at the SPG site 4,400 (ex) is still showing ( I am signed into my SPG account) and it is listed as a SPG prefered rate. Now clicking the link to see the hotel site and selecting offers then the stay 2 pay for 3 reserve link 4100 is shown. As I mentioned earlier ALWAYS check the hotel site and the offers link as some good savings can be had. I had a great rate at Marriott Thonglor in April of 2800 a night before tax and service charges and being Marriott Gold had lounge access. Bargains are there if you keep an eye on the websites and are flexible with dates etc.
  20. To add to the above, depending on dates and length of stay the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit can be cheaper than The Westin. Also with the SPG properties always check the hotels website and click the offers tab where better rates can be found than doing a general search. Looking at the OP first post 16,000 for 3 nights at Sofitel..... I have a 3 night stay at Sheraton Grande booked for early December and it's 14,477 THB inclusive all taxes and charges.
  21. I take it as what might be hot this month is not the next.
  22. Cialis is what I tried at home and worked well for me when needed and Apcalis I have bought in Thailand which should be easy to find at the pharmacies. Sometimes though I think it is not working as well as it did for me in the past, mainly in how hard I get. If you have the cash you could try the other ED med's, just follow the directions and see what works best for you.
  23. Have never stayed at Pullman but have the Sofitel and Sofitel is a great hotel. Guest friendly in my experience and good location between Cowboy and Nana.
  24. Well I had been up for 26 hours and had a blinder of a night. I was surprised the room stopped spinning !!
