  1. Some other Soi 11 scenes from yesterday, like shopping at Villa Market When I was looking for a condo to rent, the first place I checked was Chaidee Mansion, at the 'T'. I asked the guy how much for the rent on a 1-bedroom, he said 48,000. "Isn't that a lot?", I asked. "Utilities included", he said. But nice views of the Soi from there I've frequently stayed at CitiChic down the road on Soi 13, a hotel I can highly recommend. Some other options Other dining options include fresh seafood Here's my taco salad from Charlie Brown's. I still think La Monita and Senior Pico are better. A good place to go for pizza Lollipop1, every neighborhood needs a blow job bar. Other day scenes from yesterday A new Holiday Inn is being constructed opposite Chaidee Mansion. Some workers relaxing. Cheap Thai food at Soi 11 guesthouse Even farangs are friendly on Soi 11 Other night scenes The band warms up at Apoteka Rosabieng and Zanzabar restaurants provide soft music for dining in a garden setting
  2. Today here's what's left of the Federal Hotel, a Soi 11 institution since the 1970's, making room for new Condos. I never stayed there but had breakfast in their coffee house once, and their website is still up. http://www.federalbangkok.com/
  3. Yeah, this is convenient. After Raintree, you veer to the left behind the Park Hotel. After reaching Soi 7, you can continue 'underground' and take The Tunnel to Soi 5. The entrance from Soi 7 is here
  4. Jetstar Asia to Singapore. The Thai Embassy is just a few blocks from Orchard Towers. Submit your application in the morning and pick up the next afternoon.
  5. Thanks for your comments! Photos were taken with Nikon D5000 I bought second hand at a camera shop in Gateway Mall.
  6. Out for a stroll on a quiet Sunday morning You can have your sox mended Bar girls available at Hillary 3 Freelancers available at Climax disco, things get going after midnight Even the Thai restaurants add 17% to your bill But not the Old German Beer Haus. Bravo! or try the street vendors too late for Bed Supperclub The Cheap Charlie cul de sac provides an alternate route I never ate here, just assumed they were trying to warn me Good lunch specials at Chez Pape on the weekend, 550 for 3 courses, plus 17% And even a bread and breakfast for the budget travellers At night, minibuses take over and the parking lanes become mobile bars Q Bar Apotheke has live blues bands starting 8:30 PM Soi 11 has everything, except a GoGo Bar
  7. I was charged for joiner at Winsor Suites and Royal Parkview. Would never stay at either again, especially the latter which is a dump anyway.
  8. There's definitely a new year party atmosphere. The top GoGos raise bar fines so I do an early soapy before going to the bars NYE. I prefer the Bangkok scene on NYE as Pattaya gets crazy and fills up with Ruskies.
  9. Found this on my hard drive. From the International Auto Salon at Impact Arena, June 2013
  10. This is the 3rd auto show I've attended at Impact Arena in the past 6 months. This one called the Bangkok Import Auto Show, now until July 28. Not as good as the others, but free admission.
  11. I went with a group. The desel-powered long tail boats rent for 1200/hr and can accommodate 10-12 passengers. My cost was 500 baht for four hours, including lunch.
  12. Beautiful day today to be rolling down the river and up the creek for a tour of the Bangkok waterways. Starting at Tha Chang pier on the Chao Phraya, near the Royal Palace, and stopping for a cold one at floating markets along the way. Leave your automobiles and motorbikes behind, all Bangkok may be like this some day.
  13. Fridat featured more Race Queens from Japan, a singing group called the Drift Angels, and a Japan Model Show. Last day is today, so this is all from me till next year.
  14. Today featured Race Queens from Japan. It was also Press Day, so I received free admission. They asked for a business card, didn't have one, just told them I was covering the event for Bangkok-Addicts.com. The Race Queens had an interpreter, one of them spoke excellent English, but I only saw about 4 farangs in attendence so I don't think it helped her much. More shots from today.
  15. Turns out the Bangkok Motor Show isn't the only auto show in town! Now there's the Bangkok International Auto Salon at Impact Arena until June 30th. Complete with cars, pretties, and a sexy car wash. Admission: 100 baht. Not the scale of the Motor Show but good if you don't wish to fight the crowds.
  16. Thanks for the review and pics. Looks like a decent place, good location.
  17. I only spent one night at the Swiss Park. I wasn't too impressed with their buffet, my 'room service' was much tastier.
  18. I tried the Horizon Cruise when I was a guest at the Shangri-La Hotel. Large boat, cruise lasted 2 hours, international buffet, drinks not included.
