  1. Last day is tomorrow, April 7th. Admission: 100 baht. Impact is about 120 baht taxi ride from Mor Chit BTS
  2. I tried the Reuben sandwitch and cannot recommend it, better at the Landmark I think. The beef was tough and stringy (i.e. local). Swiss cheese was tasty and cloeslaw was good, however. About 540 baht, including a cherry coke, they add 17% for service and VAT. Portions were quite large, I couldn't finish it, but really didn't want to. Although the sign says '24 hours', this is part of the motif. I don't believe the restaurant opens until 3 PM, at least that was the case when I stopped there for breakfast a few weeks ago. I think this is better than the V-8 diner in the strip mall next to Times Square, but that's not saying much. Music was good.
  3. Hotel Name : Grand Sukhumvit Girl Friendly : Yes Rates Per Night : About 3300 I believe Way of Booking : Accor website Review of Hotel : I book this hotel when Accor has a supersale, usually paid about 1800, a very good price for this property, and most times they upgraded me to a suite at no additional charge. Suites are in the rear wing and are very spacious and comfortable, all seem to have different layouts but include a sitting room, kitchen, and bedroom. Bathrooms have separate tub and shower. Once got food poisoning from the oysters at the seafood buffet.
  4. Hotel Name : Amari Boulevard Girl Friendly : Joiner fee 1000 baht Rates Per Night : About 2300 I believe Way of Booking : Refered from City Lodge Soi 19 Review of Hotel : I've been moved to this hotel 3 times when City Lodge Soi 19 was overbooked. Both hotels are managed by Amari, so City Lodge referred me here with no extra charge, paid for taxi, and they waived the joiner for me. The hotel has an excellent location on Soi 5, next to Gullivers. Rooms are OK, nothing special. Many Arabs stay here. I brought a girl from Nana Plaza and had to share the elevator with two women dressed in burkas. I can only imagine what they were talking about. The first time they sent be here I was put in room 911.
  5. I stay at City Lodge Soi 19 one or two nights a month, including tonight.
  6. Hotel Name : City Lodge Soi 19 Girl Friendly : Yes Rates Per Night : THB 1498 Way of Booking : Internet Booking agoda, com Review of Hotel : Clean, good size rooms, excellent location (across the street from Westin). If you don't need a pool this hotel offers excellent value for the baht. I especially like the walk-in showers that are large enough to accommodate myself and 2 bar girls. Don't bother paying an additional 150 for the breakfast or extra 200 for the larger rooms, standard room is large enough. There is also a City Lodge on Soi 9 for a few hundred less, but rooms are smaller. Ask for a room in the back if you stay at Soi 9 because the noise from Sukhumvit can be annoying.
  7. Soi 8 Pub serves a large, greasy-spoon brekkie. Plan on skipping lunch, but don't skip Lolitas.
  8. I've stayed at the Grand Suk 7 or 8 times, it is guest friendly. Rooms in the rear tower are newer, larger, and better furnished. They will frequently give a free upgrade to a suite. Here are some room shots:
  9. There's no problem bringing two girls in here, have stayed there many times. They have a 1200 baht walk-in special, if rooms are available. There is also a City Lodge on Soi 19, rooms are slightly better and the hotel is very near both mrt and bts. Usually priced 100-200 baht more than Soi 9.
  10. The last time I went to the pharmacy near robinsons they said they had a new supplier for Penegra and the price is now 350 for a pack of 4.
  11. I would recommend City Lodge, it's right across the street from the Westin, for around 1500 if you shop around. Managed by Amari, there's no pool but rooms have a small balcony, and are decent size after having been refurbished a few years ago. I stay there a lot and like the location and value.
  12. Prices are comparable to other mexican restaurants in bangers, but quality is better. Just had the shrimp fajitas there for dinner today, 390 baht. Tasty, but wish the accompaniments included guacamole instead of the beans. Combo plates go for around 350. Margaritas 95 baht until 7 PM. Daily specials. Best Mexican food in town.
  13. Yes, that's a good price. Mostly find 2300-2500 range. Don't bother paying 300 extra for a terrace room.
  14. Yeah, I made the Tip-Top mistake myself. But in the Pat Pong area, Paddy's Cantina is the worst. Awoke in the middle of the night with a hole burning in my stomach. Worst experience I've had in LOS, this is some Mexican food to really avoid.
  15. Usually few girls are working the high-end massage parlors either the day after new years eve or halloween, from being out all night partying. Thais love to dress up in crazy costumes, so it is quite popular. But the GoGos also usually raise their bar fines to 1000 baht those nights. So best strategy I think, is take in a massage parlor early, then go out bar crawling. I remember my first Halloween in Bangkok in '92, it was crazy on patpong.
  16. Never stayed at Asoke Residence, but looks nice. I've eaten in their restaurant, le beaulieu . One of the best french restaurants in town.
  17. Also, from the before mentioned pharmacy near robinson: 300 baht for a 4 pack of Penegra, or 4 packs of 4 for 1000.
  18. That's a great price, it's normally around 2500. I also really like this hotel, stayed there many times. Operated by the same people that run Majestic Suites and Majestic Grande. Complementary in-room wired internet is good quality.
  19. I was pleasantly surprised during my last stay at the Nana, they gave me a refurbished room. No cigarette burns in the rug, no scratches in the woodwork. Still the same crappy furniture, but it was new. Here's a shot of the room http://www.geocities.com/piece_corp/nana.html
