Thanks for post. One of my primary reasons for visiting Thailand is the food. I am a foodie, and I love to go out and explore the cuisine all over Thailand. I'll add this to my list. Doing a serious food tour this time around that will take my all the way up north to the borders.

Ayutthaya.... Take BTS to Victory Monument station and catch a mini van to Ayyuthaya. There are quite a few mini van operators out of the Victory Monument area. There are 2 that I have used, but the one I use most often is on the side street close to the roundabout. Get off the train flow the elevated walkway past the exits. Take the first stairs down on the right hand side. The mini vans will be over close to the McDonalds. Find one with AC if you can. Cost is around 50-60 baht. You can join up with others when you get there and the Tuk Tuk will hold about 6 people. Going rate is around 200 baht an hour to drive around the areas. The driver will wait while you take pictures and take you back to mini van locations.

Try the 7-11 for the Sim card. I got one there last time and it worked fine. Lots of WiFi around too but can be slow in some places. If your phone has GPS it will work on the maps if you get turned around. Get A Thai SIM Card At Bangkok Airport The easiest solution is to do it as soon as you arrive at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport. There are branches of all three telecoms companies – AIS, DTAC and True – in Bangkok Airport’s Arrivals Hall so you can get a SIM as soon as you arrive. Ask them to install and set up the SIM card for you, just in case any settings need to be changed. Ensure the data connection is working and you can access your emails, Facebook etc before you leave the shop. These shops stay open late so check them out even if you arrive in the small hours of the morning. Getting A Thai SIM Card In Bangkok If you don’t get your Thai SIM at the airport, you can find branches of all three mobile carriers in Siam Paragon, Bangkok’s ritziest mall where the staff speak English. The mall is located right next to Siam Square BTS Station – very easy to find.

The bkk Soi area cover so much ground. It is best to research each via Google Street view, and this forum to figure out where and what you want to do. If you will return again, it is better to try and divide the area and conquer a bit at a time. Soi 4 can be loud, and being tucked a little ways into a different area but still close to the action is best. A good hotel will have a washing machine in the room for laundry, so look for that too. This greatly reduces the need for lots of clothes. Exchange at the Rich locations, or the bank across from McdonaldS off the main road and Soi 4. Get a data Sim for your mobile while there too. Agree with above. Also be very weary or aware of the group tactics. Watched some tourist just outside of Chutakut market get chatted up by a group of thai locals. One man asked what he had bought, and the tourist started showing him a map he had purchased. Others gathered around pointing at the map and asking if he had been here or there. It all seemed ok until I noticed that both of the tourist were engaged with eyes on the map and not their back packs. I noticed one who had worked around to the rear and he was obviously looking to open or access a pack if he could. I injected myself into the conversation and brought the subject away from the map. Once I had broken up the deal, I quickly talked to the two and gave them a heads up as to what was about to happen. Stay alert. Stay safe, and have a good time.
