Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit
Brit In Myanmar replied to Adore's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
This is a popular hotel and particularly at the weekends it can get very busy around the pool. But for me it is worth it, with all the plants around you really do not feel like you are in the centre of bangkok. The food is also excellent. -

Four Points by Sheraton, Sukhumvit soi 15
Brit In Myanmar replied to toonboy's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
January is normally a busy month in Bangkok so it is unlikely that you will get a good last minute deal (it is more likely that the hotel will be fully booked) -
Can you buy tickets in advance? eg if you are going from Asoke to Siam and ticket machine is quiet can you buy two tickets using the second ticket for the return journey or do you have to buy the ticket at the station you are leaving from?

I think the 4 points is one of the best value hotels in Bangkok. It is normally considerably cheaper than the Hyatt, Westin, Sofitel etc. The rooms are good, bit nothing sepectacular, the roof to pool and bar is good, the buffet breakfast is decent enough. It is very guest friendly, you have the back door if you want but no one will say anything if you bring a girl or two in through the front door.

Best ROP voucher hotel?
Brit In Myanmar replied to spazz's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
I've stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton. The location is good in between SC and Nana. it is also definitely girl friendly. -
In Bangkok there are lots of hotels down by the river. It is very nice area to stay and gives easy access via the river to sights like the Grand Palace and Wat Arun etc. In Pattaya you need to stay outside of Pattaya to avoid the girly scene. I have stayed at the Sheraton Pattaya it is just outside of the town itself and is excellent.

can we travel to BKK this week end
Brit In Myanmar replied to coolguys's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
i think the big risk for this weekend is that the pre-polling should take place if the 2nd Feb elections are going to go ahead. So this will give the 1st real indication on whether the election will go ahead. Either way one side or the other will not be happy so I think there is a risk that there will be an adverse reaction to this. Also if the pre polling does go ahead then it will count as an election day itself so the no alcohol rule will be in place. With the lack of customers anyway I think we will see a lot of bars shutting down. -
Accomodation advice
Brit In Myanmar replied to davidbkr's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
One option is to staya t one of the hotels by the river (there are lots of 4 and 5 star hotels down there). Great for sightseeing but a long way from the nighttime action. Alternatively you could stay somewhere like the Le Meredien which is a very nice hotel and very close to Patpong so you can dash off for some fun. -
Friends Hair Cut and Massage
Brit In Myanmar replied to house516's topic in General discussion about Bangkok
They do good hair cuts as well, I've been getting my hair cut here for the last 8 years when I'm in the area and although the girls change all of them do a decent job -
Hyatt hotel and mongering
Brit In Myanmar replied to Yhddude's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Yes you have it pretty much spot on. I normally stay at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit as I collect Starwood points and as a Platinum member they treat me very well there (upgrade to suites, free breakfast, free drinks between 6 and 8pm). Plus no one bats an eyelid if I say I am staying there rather than the Nana Hotel. Yes Spasso's can be convenient (or you could try Bar Su at the Sheraton or Club 89 plus at the Conrad). You get some nice girls there, normally a bit older and they seem to start negotiations at b5000 ST. I find they will normally convert the B5000 to LT or go down to B3000 ST but will not go much beyond that, plus you have to pay for the girls drink (normally she has nursed one all night) which at these places are expensive (Think b300 - b500) -

I do similar trips just get the standard 30 days entrance visa on arrival and it is fine.

BKK Hotel Or Apt - Discreet Entry
Brit In Myanmar replied to jl2009's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
Try any of the hotels on Soi 4 although you will have to walk through the lobby these hotels survive off this business so no one is going to look twice at you and your friend walking through the lobby. If you want to splash the cash the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit has a ground floor entrance that means you do not have to go through the lobby (The lobby is on the 1st floor) -
My info is a bit out of date as it was 8 years ago that I was there, but at least at that time there were some beer bars in krabi town.

Majestic Suites
Brit In Myanmar replied to comingtobkk's topic in Hotels & Accommodations in Bangkok
I think most guest friendly hotel do not care if you book for one or two people. I normally just book for one and have never had a problem bringing back a guest. If you are staying at an unguest friendly hotel booking for two is no guarentee. They will expect the second person to be the same for the whole of the stay and not change every night.
