well just to update the thread as it was helpful to me. the Sukhothai is very guest friendly, had up to 3 "guests" some nights and no questions or funny looks. Suites are big and very comfortable. 3-5 min cab ride to patpong / silom rd. (depending on time of day). 3 min walk to local 7 11. Only dowside is the expense, never ordered food in the 3 weeks I was staying due to ludicrous prices.

Helicopter. Just be sure they use the meter though. But srsly, just get a metered taxi, or even cheaper use the BTS.
