  1. I have stayed there on three different times and for the most part enjoyed it. One trip there was construction next door and the jackhammer at 7:00am was not appreciated. There is a thread on it in the hotel sections with a few pics. I have stayed in the superior and executive suite but not the deluxe. I had a deluxe booked the last trip but got in very late and they had given my room away so I got upgraded to the executive suite( I would have never paid the extra for it but it was nice). The deluxe rooms do have a balcony or some do but I think the rooms are to the back of the hotel and the balcony is enclosed. The last time I stayed was in 2012 and a lot can happen in that amount of time so not sure what it is like these days. I have pics of a couple of the rooms I stayed in if you are interested in seeing them I would post them up here.
  2. Giving it another go for three nights at the end of February. I will give another update afterwards.
  3. Boss Suites about a hundred meters down the same side street Worburi is on would be better if you are willing to pay a little more. This area is far enough away from the action so it is quiet there at night but as stated before if she is nonworking and you want to impress Soi 4 would not be the best area to stay in.
  4. Sorry didn't look into what it was. It looks like a good deal for those who have the iphone. I now understand what you meant by jaibreak as well.
  5. not sure what you are asking but any phone can be unlocked but have heard of some reporting that the person they had trying to unlock a phone couldn't do it. I don't think it is against any law but phone company may not apreciate it but unless you have a problem with the phone they would never know and the phone is yours by rights(break one without a warranty and find out how fast it is your problem not theirs as it is your phone and you need to replace it). The only reason it is locked is so a company can try and force you to use it on their service so only they can make money from it's use. My commnet was as it was meant my phone that I use at home is not unlocked and is not a iphone but is a smart phone worth around $700 so I would not want anyone messing around with it and screw it up so it would have to be fixed or replaced. I of course did not pay anywhere near that for the phone but would have to shell out quite a few bucks if I had to get a new one and I do not want to do this. Most of the people take over old phones that they have after upgrading to a newer one and can afford to take a chance as it is already paid for and a good phone that can be used so why not use it. I personally picked up an unlocked quadband cheap phone to use for texts and conversations not really good for anything else as I don't really want or need anything more than that. It only cost around $30 so if it gets lost or stolen don't care.
  6. Iphones can be unlocked in Thailand but not sure I would want someone toying around with an expensive phone.
  7. stayed the first few nights here on my last trip and got in very late and they had given away my room. I got upgraded to the executive suite. It was large but I would never pay the extra for it. I like this place but as you say there are some cons. Here are a couple of pics of the suite.
  8. After you pick up your bag and exit you turn to the right and you will see booths for all the major carriers lined up along the wall. I went with Happy which is from DTAC the last two trips and had no service issues in BKK,Pattaya,Phuket,Koh Sahmed, and Udon Thani. The sim card comes with a small amount of baht on it already 39BHT I think and costs 99BHT for me this is enough to get me into BKK as I have needed to text a friend the last two trips on arrival. I usually get a 100bht top up at the nearest 7 after I get settled in at the room. I don't use it to much so 100bht can last quite awhile for me but it is easy enough to check credits and get more at any time of the day at any 7 11 store. I have also heard True is a good carrier to use. As for the phone if you don't have one I wouldn't bother getting the sim card at the airport go to MBK mall or Pantip plaza buy a phone and get sim card at the same time and they will be able to set the phone up for you. I bought a cheap phone off of ebay to use for my trips. It is quadband and unlocked so no issues with service or using thai sim card.
  9. I am guessing that you want a sim card that has data as well as just phoine service if so then yes you can from any of the services over there. I always pick mine up at the airport and even though I did not ask for one it gave me data rates so I could have used it for that if I had a phone that was good for it. I only take a cheap phone with so only need voice and texting myself as I use the laptop or netbook for anything else. I am sure more of the guys can guide you better on this but hope this helps you out.
  10. I have stayed there and it is not in the same class. It is good for a cheap place to stay but I need to aviod that soi and the thread is about Boss Suites not other hotels.
  11. look for the signs they will lead you down I believe one floor down from the taxis
  12. I think you will like it as it is a nice place and far enough away from the action to be quite and close enough to easily enjoy it
  13. Yes there are blinds for the glass wall and I kept them closed as I had the same thought. Yes it does not look far and I never had a problem with it but think some of the girls might start whinning. I would put it between 5 and 10 minutes depending on how fast you walk I never really timed it so not sure but probably closer to ten. I would stay again as I usually do some walking anyway. I stopped with my girl about halfway each night and got something to eat in the resturant across the street from the Heaven@4 hotel so there was a break in the walk.
  14. On my last trip on my way back to BKK for my last couple of days before leaving I booked this hotel as I had heard some good things about it and wanted to try something different. I booked it through agoda the day before needing it and got what I thought was a good price. I booked three nights for $136.98 USD. I had a deluxe room. http://www.agoda.com/asia/thailand/bangkok/ambassador_hotel_bangkok.html Pros see in bathroom pool excellent sized room in rome safe big shower take id's tuk tuk service to Nana station free wifi in room Cons location I liked everthing about this hotel except for the location was just a little to far from Nana for a high heeled girl to walk it but it can be done. I did not do enough checking on the tuk tuk but this maybe a viable option if you turn in early as I think it discontinues at about midnight. I did walk a girl back on two nights from Nana and had no problems with complaints from the girl but she didn't wear ridiculously high heels either so that helped. I thought it was to close for a taxi or motocy taxi as well but you could do it. That all being said I will probably stay there again on my way in or out again if the price is right since everything else was worth it. Here are soom pics of the room i had for you to look at.
  15. I would take them to a laundromat as well before taking them into the house.
  16. thanks for the info! I like to get something that is close to home food when on the road. I usually get to Sunrise once a trip but if this is better i will look it up next trip.
  17. Here is a site that may help you find a girl friendly hotel http://www.wgfriendly.com/ it may not have all the hotels but it could point you in the right direction
  18. I have a ten lesson Pimsleur course on basic thai but have not really tried it out yet. I can't remember where I got it but it was ebay or half.com I think. I also picked up a handy book from a friend called Instant Thai which is a nightlife phrasebook ISBN#978-611-90002-0-9 published by Full Moon Books. The book can be bought in BKK easy enough but not sure if you can get it overseas. It lays out words and phrases you are likely to use with the bar girls and it shows you the way regular thais will pronounce it.
  19. I think the location is great. It really depends on how far you are willing to walk. You are as close to Nana as you want to be so it easy to walk to and yet you do not get noise from there or any of the close bars if you are in early. I at least had little problem with street noise when in a street side room. I think it is an easy walk to Nana and a couple of streets down you are at the bts station.
  20. Heaven@4 is not what you are looking for it is interesting but does not have all that you want
  21. I booked for my first few nights on agoda so not really sure. I used the web site to look over the place. I did show up at the door for my last couple of nights and got a superior room for 3000bht for two nights. I would think you would get the price from there web site if you did the booking but would not want to go through all that to get prices. I would suggest e-mailing them to ask about rates and then compare them to agoda.
  22. I found it. It is called MK. They are around BKK. The easiest one to get to is the one in the Robinson store. Go to the basement food court and it is in the middle closed off from the rest of it.
  23. I don't remember the name right now but there is a chain in BKK. The easiest to get to is the one in the Robinson food court located in the basement. It is right on the BTS. I am sure it is on another thread but can't remember where. I might look around for the name since it bothers me now that I can't remember it. I did also go to one off the On Nut station not a chain but a large buffet. You get what you want take it back to your table and cook it. Some of the girls like doing this they will cook for you and feed you.
  24. the only noise I had a problem with in May was the construction going on in the hotel next door. One morning they started with a jackhammer at 7:00am. The street noise wasn't bad but you can hear some if you have a room that is at the front wall of the building. Iwas out late most nights then with the girl for longer so being up late cut down the noise.
