Why to stay at a hotel? I would go for air bnb, it's more private. Or you can find apartments for rent here https://tranio.com/thailand/bangkok/, I only used them in Europe, but they do work worldwide.

For me it can take weeks now ( I travel from England to BKK). When I was in my twenties it was OK the next day after flight. I noticed if I arrive and work the same/next day - it will be better than if I have 2-3 days off after flight, I mean I am getting used to new time zone better if I go straight to work upon arrival.

I am satisfied with both Uber and GrabCar, I prefer to pay card, and I hate dealing wth drivers, best driver is a numb driver :rolleyes: I find proce of Uber and GrabCar is about same.
