Get ya and got ya. They were great for the 20 plus hour trip to the LOS. I packed a carry on for a 17 day trip, so I used these to cut down on every item of clothing I could while still attempting to be a fashion stud. :unsure: It did work out but I realized I could have checked a bag free, so effort wasted. Hello Gents, Just wanted to pass along some information from Consumer Reports about insect repellent from their tests in the June Magazine. I don't get anything from CR and simply want to pass along unbiased information from the SME's on this matter, especially given that mosquito's can be quite a problem in SE Asia. I have followed CR for nearly 30 years and think they provide outstanding advise. I recall talking to a woman who had a horrible scar on her leg and our conversation drifted to what happened and she said it was a mosquito bite that got infected. Of course, don't scratch after getting bitten, and I learned in Vietnam that if you rub the inside skin of a banana peel on the mosquito bite, it will stop the itching and allow it to heal faster. Anyway, here is the information and I hope it proves helpful to someone. Cheers!! PS: I had to take out the images but the brands are still there. Ingredient Info In our most recent survey of insect-repellent users, about half said they don’t read the labels before buying them. That’s a mistake, because the active ingredient and concentration matters to both effectiveness and safety. Products with any one of these three active ingredients—deet, oil of lemon eucalyptus, and picaridin—generally worked well in our tests. And all are safe, even for pregnant women, when used appropriately. Here’s what you need to know about each: Deet Many people assume that the more deet (N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) a product contains, the better. But our tests found that products with 15 to 30 percent deet can provide long-lasting protection against mosquitoes and ticks. Hello Gents, First, I have nothing to do with T-Mobile other than being a customer. I get nothing out of passing this along other than the fact that you might save some money and be able to spend on your "hobbies". Anyway, the point of this deal is that you get unlimited voice, data, and text for $60 all in to include taxes. Did I mention that this if for two lines? No? Well this is for two lines. If you join autopay you get it even cheaper. I just did it this morning after I saw this in a group I belong and wanted to pass it along because I am not paying 50 dollars instead of 99.00 I called a service representative and it was done in 10 minutes. TMobile is also pretty good on mobile data around the world as well when you travel and has reasonable rates. Not sure what they are offering in other countries but this appears to be a US deal. You can get them cheaper on Amazon. The price is around 12 -13 dollars. They last a long time and are worth the money in the long run. Quality item and you are worth it. :P

Hey Mate, Not a problem with responding because that is what we are here for; to support each other. Yes, I can understand about dealing with the poor and most people just want to live the best life that has been dealt to them. In the question about the hotel, it is about 70 usd now but was only about 45 last year. It is nice for the price and I believe you can get a discount price if you make a reservation on their website. The MRT is only about a 5 minute walk and one stop up and you are in the action. Also, only 10 minutes by cab in heavy traffic to Soi Cowboy. Yes, it appeared to be guest friendly as they didn't say anything as I walked with my Take away to my room. Hopes this helps. Wow, what a way to treat you as that price sounds competitive. When I came to BKK out of IAD, the price was about 628 on UAL and ANA from NRT. UAL as does most american airlines are passenger unfriendly and I try to fly with anyone else. The prices look to be about the same this year for a flight out in November and early December. I am actually looking at a flight out of Cairo to BKK nonstop business class for 1200 dollars and some change. It is a matter of getting there and connecting that is an issue. I think you may see some discounted prices especially if the stock market makes a big correction, which could happen at any time.

Funny you should ask and good questions. Answer to question 1: 380 Bht 225 entree, 90 appetizer, and 65 for drink. Cost 11 dollars. The food was flavorful, the surroundings very upscale, and the staff very accommodating. When I am on vacation, I do not scrimp on providing myself good meals. I just went to one of my fav Vietnamese restaurants here in the DC area and it cost me 63 dollars for two, so that meal in BKK was a bargain. Q2. I stayed at the Modena by Fraser. 4-4-5 star hotel that is near the Queens convention center and the BRT. Very nice place. Check out my review here and there are many on tripadvisor who think the same as I do. It was almost half the price that it is now and I guess that is because it is more popular and better known. Q3. I did not know this and I think I may have walked through some of them. In my past life, I walked through some very dangerous places all the time because it was my job. Never had to kill anyone. Anyone that swung first got to pick the hospital of their choosing. Just saying. The hotel area I was staying in is upscale and you should check it out. Q4. I like Vietnamese food and to each their own. My best friend was Vietnamese and I worked as wait staff when I was in college in a Vietnamese restaurant. I love every facet of the food and was why I had to stop in Vietnam just to eat the food and hang out. Well worth it. As to Thai food, it is good as well. I like Lad Na and the various styles of Thai. I like to mix things up a bit and I enjoy Thai as well. I even learned to make Mango and sticky rice upon my return because it was so good and healthy. I lost 15 pounds by walking and eating their food over a weeks time. I also walked 7-10 miles a day sight seeing, so I think that is where that weight went. Best way to see how people live is to walk where they walk. A great time. Anyway, thanks for the questions and hope they prove to be useful. Enjoy your stay in BKK and see you around on the Board. Hello Gents, I look at and follow air travel to the SE on a daily basis and came across this deal and did check it out on Google Flights: Flights from San Francisco to BKK in September and October for as low as $475. I used a sample date of Sept 5th - Oct 4th and was priced at $475 for China Southern and a 20 hour trip. Coming back is a bit longer, but that gives you more time to recuperate and play back the fun you had in Bangkok. Flights also appear to be cheap for HCMC and a couple of other destinations in the area. If you are in China on a layover you can get a 72 hour visit visa free and go check out some of the local flavor. I haven't flown on China Southern, but compared to american airlines these days, how bad can it be? I have flown United and ANA and liked the ANA trip much better than United. So check out this deal if it helps anyone. There may be other departure points. A dollar saved on travel is a dollar spent on your ladies. Cheers!!

Hello Gents, I wanted to share a Vietnamese restaurant I came across that was close to my hotel in the Klong Toei area. I searched Google for a Vietnamese restaurant and it came up with Vietnamese and More close by, so close I thought I could walk to it, given I had already walked 10 miles that day on a walking tour. I began the trek and traipsed through back alleys, dark corridors, unlit streets and the like until I finally found the place. Having just come from Ho Chi Minh City a few days before, I was looking for some good Vietnamese in Thailand. The food was very good and lived up to the 4.5 star rating by TripAdvisor and I could see many middle and upper middle class Thais and well as Vietnamese were also enjoying themselves with food and beverage. I ordered the Spring Rolls and the Bun Cha (grilled pork, pork patty and mixed vegetable) for my main course and was not disappointed. The place is modern and has a nice vibe. A few ladies were by the small bar and looked to be regular thai women. I did take a cab back to the hotel since it was late, I had a full stomach, and my feet were near revolt. I would have to agree with dbuko for exactly his reasoning. The free breakfast and free drinks at happy hour can save you some dollars (or currency of your choice) in the long run especially with the alcohol. Free is free especially when beer is 140 bht. The other thing is simply do the math and see what comes out better in the wash. Also, an upgrade to a suite may help when you place that reservation. I do this on travel all the time and it allows me to spend on more important things, like women. Finally, splurge on yourself. You are on vacy and you are worth every pfenning. It may not be too late. Ask at the desk and you might get a manger's special.

In front of Nana, choice of fresh chicken on a stick or bugs. While they may taste the same, chicken won by a hair. Did I mention the chicken had hair on its leg? On an aside, bugs will also be one of the mainstays for protein in the future for the masses. Hopefully, I won't be part of those masses. :unsure:

Hello Gents, First the title should have been Nice Hotel Close to the Action - Appears Guest Friendly Modena by Fraser (Where is the title edit button? - newbie on the site) I wanted to share a hotel I stayed in last year that was new at the time and just celebrated its one year anniversary. The hotel is Modena by Fraser and is one stop on the MRT from Asok Sukhumvit and was close enough for me to get to Soi Cowboy rather quickly. I had not heard of the Fraser hotel chain but the facilities were modern, clean and the staff great. It did not cost that much at about 45 dollars per night (which I know is somewhat expensive in BKK) but I thought I got a lot of value from the location and the hotel. It appears to be guest friendly because as I was being in my lovely date, we had to stop at the front desk because my key card had an issue at the elevator and no one at the front desk said anything to us. It was a short cab ride (less than 10 minutes) back to the hotel from Soi Cowboy because the MRT had closed. It is rated 4.0-4.5 stars, so take a chance and splurge on yourself. I have one with a Chase card that allows PP entry to clubs. Used it BKK and several other lounges and it is worth it. You can get food, alcohol and showers before you board. It really made sense at BKK because of the late night departures. My chase card also allows up to 300 dollars in travel expenses not to mention the points for upgraded travel. Get a business credit card and enjoy the perks. I use points and miles to travel and it opens up the world. :D

Qatar airlines will start flights to Chiang Mai beginning in December. They currently are at BKK, Krabi, and Phuket. Not an ad, but an advisory note. I like this because Chiang Mai was my real first stop in Thailand and I plan on heading back to see the sights and all the ladies I missed.
