  1. For your interests, and your wife's, try the gay/bondage sections of Patpong in the Silom area of Bangkok. There are also straight GCs there as well. If you see a bunch of Karaoke/Japanese clubs then you are off by one street from where you want to be.
  2. Remember, the Vasu exchange is along Sukhumvit on a corner. It can be hard to see as the signage is at a weird angle, and it is partially obstructed by the Nana skytrain platform stairs. One good way to find it is, if you see the big Q condos on Sukhumvit, then Vasu is on the exact opposite side of the Sukhumvit road. Or, go up to the Nana BTS platform and down the other side. They'll be on the corner on the Nana Plaza side. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Vasu+Exchange/@13.7406329,100.5549582,19z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x30e29ee6dd4625a7:0xcfc30c8317c066ff!8m2!3d13.7406329!4d100.5556033!16s%2Fg%2F1yfdqx69d
  3. https://thethaiger.com/news/bangkok/video-taxi-metre-rises-suspiciously-quickly-in-bangkok-thailand "When the female taxi driver saw the passenger filming the meter, she suddenly turned it off, despite having a while to go until they reached their destination, said the passenger."
  4. On all my taxi trips in BKK for 7-days I only had 2 instances where they would not use the meter, but they quoted a near-fair price. All other taxi trips they used the meters without even asking. Maybe it's your breath?
  5. He's probably an advanced member on a sister site, like Pattaya-Addicts.
  6. That's not a really clear question. But, it would be easier to get into Thailand and enjoy your time in the country if you were fully vaccinated. As far as being sensible, having the normal vaccination regime is always a good idea for humanity and society, if not yourself. This includes Polio, Tetanus, diphtheria, MMR, and pertussis. Optionally, but still important, would be the HPV and seasonal flu boosters. What you do is up to you, but it's your life to enrich or shorten as you want.
  7. Do you mean do we get any before we travel? I'm always fully vaxxed before any international travel with the latest boosters. I'm not an idiot.
  8. Looking at my 2019 taxi fare from BKK to my hotel on Sukhumvit it came to 450 baht. It's a bit higher as I just rounded the payment up. That includes the tolls as well. Also, as for fuel prices, I thought the Thai government subsidized fuel prices to keep them low? But even if they didn't, the fair seems a bit high. Maybe more rigged meters?
  9. PhiPhi is HOT and small ... Not many people there.
  10. Everything was looking good in LOS in March '21, but as April '21 roared around it started to look dicey. There's no firm answers on whether October '21 will be worth it at this point. Like the weather, the predictions get clearer the closer you are to the forecast date. And, we still don't know if Phuket means fully open over the island, or just in certain tourist venues.
  11. Are you flying directly into Phuket, or arriving in Bangkok and then taking a flight to Phuket? Also, I don't think we know if arrival means unlimited access to Phuket, or only specified tourist areas.
  12. Actions like this will turn tourists off. If you can't give a negative review, then how can you trust any reviews about Thailand? I can't believe they actually jailed him, but time will tell if he serves any time. This really makes LOS look bad imo ...
  13. It was just one lady identified and she's back in China now from what I've heard. You'd have more worries about an elephant grabbing your balls with his trunk than contacting that flu variant at this point.
  14. I've been there several times, never any problems.
  15. Where do they get this information from? I barely see the Chinese spending anything except for shopping. Are they buying that much at the malls? https://thethaiger.com/news/opinion/why-the-chinese-are-infinitely-more-important-than-western-tourists-to-thailand "The Chinese now account for 57.48% of all tourists in Thailand and what makes this even more staggering is only 8.7% currently have passports (120 million)." "The Chinese expenditure into Thailand is US$15,342,000,000 each year, which is more than any other nation. The average spend per day for a Chinese tourist in Thailand is US$192 – which is 53% more than the average Europeans US$125 daily spend."
  16. https://www.nationthailand.com/news/30374465 "Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob Wednesday gave the green light to a package of fare increase for taxis, including distance rates, airport surcharges and the rate while not moving in traffic."
  17. Interesting. Life is all about the experiences though.
  18. Anyone been to Gaggan's? Is this venue good for Western palates? After you arrive do they refund you the $200 reservation fee or apply it to your bill?
  19. don't bring any THB with you, get it once you get into the country. They never check your currency coming in if you are a regular US tourist.
