  1. On my last trip I only had Pakistani food in Bangkok from Soi 3. Which I think was a bit expensive. I want to know the approximate price for following

    1) Meal for 2 person in a normal Thai restaurant

    2) KFC and McDonalds price for a meal

I am bit confused from KFC website

    https://www.kfc.co.th/rice.php

If you see Spicy Chicken rice..it is only THB 59 . I think its a complete meal for 1 person .... and it looks very very cheap as compared to what I have read on internet about average Thai restaurant....

please let me know approx prices

  2. Hi guys,

I've been looking through all the information in this forum, n there's really a lot :) thanks for all the sharing.

a quick question though, can anyone recommend any of the hotels found in-between soi cowboy n nana? (like "on8 sukhumvit Nana Hotel" or "Sofitel Bangkok Hotel")

i would like to hit both places during my stay in bangkok, or is that not recommended, and i'd rather choose only one of the places?

Any input would be most appreciated,

    Cheers

I think Manhattan Hotel (Soi 15) is in mid of both ....

  3. I too am learning to read and write, although I haven't been putting much time into it of late.

I started at the very beginning (a very good place to start) and purchased flash cards of all the consonants with pictures to associate with the letters. I memorized how to read and pronounce these first then learned to write them by using children's lined notebooks that are made for repetition with guides on how to correctly write each character. After I had the consonants down I started on the vowels.

Any of these learning aides can be bought at any bookstore and are very cheap.

The old school text for Thai children learning Thai is called Manee Manaa and is a series of small stories written about a boy and girl living on a farm with the introduction of new words in each chapter. Search google and you can download a PDF for free. I have the original Thai version as well as an English transliteration on my computer. Could maybe upload it but not sure if its copyrighted material.

Wow....thats a good way ...but needs more time...will surely try this technique once i have enough time :)...thanks

There are also some useful apps that can be found for your phone and many useful videos on youtube as well.  The key is to work on it at least a little bit everyday.

I am following some channels on youtube...but they are mostly about basic sentences , verbs and formal statements.....what basically I am looking for is a complete informal dailyday conversation between thai people......for that I am trying to see Lakorns with english subtitles on youtube.....i m trying to improve my listening skills by replaying scenes and statements of those lakorns..and trying to figure out the words and meanings.......one thing i realized that there are many words that i now understand in lakorn ......which is a good sign as i am not putting even an hour to learn thai ..and that too not ever day ....but still its good way to improve listening skills and vocab

  4. I'm in the process of learning to read and write Thai.  Its well worth taking the time to learn it, if you're really interested in knowing the language.

Can you please tell what resources you have ? ...I have downloaded becker's Thai for beginners pdf yesterday.....i liked its theme ..and i have learnt many new words + statements using that book...but i cannot dedicate much time to learning reading/writing thai .... its a bit confusing for me (may be coz of lack of time)

  5. Common phrases and simple words of Thai are available all over internet. But I couldn't find any place where people can write long and complete thai statements and other can correct it or verify it. In my opinion if we are not interested in learning how to read or write Thai (which is a long and difficult task) the best technique is to make long statements.

For vocabulary I use following links

    http://thai-language.com/dict/search

    http://thai2english.com

Let me know if you guys are interested so we can start writing long Thai statements here and those who are good in Thai can verify or correct them and also contribute some extra knowledge.

  6. These are all places that can be done in a day trip from Bangkok.

And thong - wat muang. Probably the biggest Buddha statue in Thailand and there is a hell garden too.

Suphan buri - wat pai rong wua. A park full of Buddha statues and also a hell garden.

    Nakhorn pathom - buddhamonthon park

    Thanks...... :) ....

  7. I am planning to go to BKK for 7 days. In my April trip I visited some tourist places like Ayutthaya , Floating market, River Kwai and Tiger temple.

Can you guys suggest places in BKK or outside (but not too far from) BKK that I can visit in 7 days through bus / BTS. I have in list following places

    1) Rayong (girl with me lives in Rayong so I decided to spend one day in her home town)

    2) Hua hin

    3) Bang Na and Samut Prakan

    Please advise more places....

  8. I was looking for sightseeing options in bangkok and found some operators who arrange tour in groups. But I am more interested in a private tour guide who can take me to some places like Tiger Temple. Can anyone recommend a reliable private tour guide and how much do they charge ?

  9. My travel agent suggested "Sawasdee hotel sukhumvit soi 8".

I am ok with this hotel esp after reading reviews on http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g293916-d1900729-Reviews-Sawasdee_Hotel_Sukhumvit_Soi_8-Bangkok.html

My travel agent is charging $60/night for this hotel. I am not sure but I think its too much for this hotel (obviously travel agent is doing business and he will keep his profit).

I want to know is it ok if i do not book this hotel through my travel agent and just go straight to hotel and book a room after my arrival in bangkok ?

  10. Some are the most beautifull men you'll ever meet.

I guess, it's really up for you to judge what you think they are, and whether or not your gay it you take one out...

Lol , I may sound idiot....but to clarify ...they have dicks like men and boobs like women ?
