  1. I thought it would be nice to create a thread with favourite hotels or Airbnbs in Bangkok. I've only stayed in hotels in Bangkok up until now but I'd love to discover good Airbnbs as well for upcoming trips which hopefully happen soon. My favourite hotel currently is the Mercure, Soi 11 It fits my budget at around $75 a night. Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms spacious, swimming pool is good and the entire hotel has a modern feel to it. The location is great to experience the nightlife with multiple clubs nearby and easy access to Nana and Cowboy. There are lots of good food opti
  2. Never stayed here before, but just booked a couple of nights in July. Scant info on here. Someone was asking about it a couple of months ago, but nobody piped up. Seems girl friendly, according to Mr Google. That's good, then. Anyone stayed there? Your old Uncle Tom likes a clean gaff, pool that gets the sunshine, a hearty breakfast, and cheerful staff, how-yoo-this-maaaning-saah!, no questions asked etc. etc.. ^_^ I know exactly where it is, have walked past a few times: location, coupled with price for what you (seem, according to photos) get, is what I chose it. Can canc
  3. Hi guys im a veteren of many Pattya and Angeles visit but am just about to have my 1st bkk experience (its easier to explain away) could do with some opinions on the above hotels . For my needs i do like a nice room thats not going to give me feel hemmed in with a good shower and a safe. Also important is a total lack of joiners fees (obviously) and ideally some other close place to get a breakfast . A room thats a bit on the quiete side is also an advantage for me as i need to make calls hope without it being obvious im in a party situation . Thanks for the helpmon this in advance O
  4. Looking for any feedback on this hotel, seems ok, would welcome any advice on it or a similar alternative. Looking at the Sofitel, Pullman or cheaper Mercure .. tried a search for Mövenpick but nothing so far.. Cheers all
  5. Has anyone stayed at the Admiral Premier Bangkok on Soi 23 or The Key Bangkok on Soi 19 (both "by Compass Hospitality") recently? Both seem to be reasonably priced, and have a bathtub and a microwave in the room, but are they any good in general?
  6. In 1992 I went to Bangkok as a normal photo taking tourist and did not join in the night-life. I am planning to return and this time I want the action of Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, etc. so i will want to stay near but will be on a limited budget. Therefore i am seeking advice and recommendations for hotels in these areas that are in the 500/1000b range. I only need a small room with AC, TV, warm shower, wifi, in-room safe box, and security from theft. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
  7. I have stayed in a few hotels with joiner fee, but have never seen it enforced. Have anyone actually paid a joiner fee, and if so, where?
  8. Can we start a list of the low priced (500/700 Bht) Bangkok hotels near Nana Plaza ????
  9. The Oriental Residence is a relatively new luxury hotel at 110 Wireless Road in Bangkok. It's very close to the U.S. Embassy and shouldn't be confused with the venerable Mandarin Oriental on the Chao Phraya River. I had an early-morning appointment at the U.S. Consulate at the beginning of the week and wanted a hotel nearby. I got a special offer from the Oriental Residence and decided to book it for one night. I paid for a standard room, but was upgraded to a corner suite. The entrance and lobby of the hotel: A model of the hotel building in the lobby: The living room a
  10. I will be visiting for the first time in June I plan on spending four or five days in Bangkok and then two weeks in Pattaya. I have a late flight that does not get into BKK until 12:30 AM I want to get a hotel that is right in the heart of the action and easy for a newbe to BKK to figure out the scene and get some action on my first night. I was thinking of staying at the Nana Plaza hotel but I am open to any other suggestion from the board. I am looking for a modest price room. Where is a good place for a newbe to stay his first night so he can find the action late at night on the first night
