sasherz
For the steak ribeye would be my preferred choice of cut. I don't like Wagyu beef either. My experience with it is overpriced and overrated. Easily accessible from Nana station would be ideal. When's the least busy time to eat normally? Afternoon/early dinner? Edit: What website does Bangkok use for restaurant reviews? Hong Kong has openrice, Bangkok has ...?
mrfreeze
Google turned up https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Restaurants-g293916-c37-Bangkok.html I have been to El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse and thought it was over priced and the steak poor quality. I installed Openrice on my phone but don't really use it but have noticed there are reviews etc. so Thai's do use it.
sasherz
That's sadly my experience with the 'popular' steak restaurants in Asia. Struggle to find something under 100 usd and the quality doesn't match the price.
lev123
I went to the fancy steak place in the Landmark and it was not very good. If you are just in BKK for a week or so, I would suggest eating steak the night before your leave. That is what I usually do. Plenty of great steak places in HK. fatboy
Try here, it is the restaurants owned by the Chok Chai Group that produce diary and beef cows. I have not been to the one in Sukhumvit but I have been to the one in Rangsit and the food was ok. The pricing was just above Sizzler but lower than some of the other places. Check out the website for the address and priced menu www.farmchokchai.com/en/index_content.php?content_id=65#t03
sasherz
Shame about the steakhouse at the Landmark, I was actually considering it. I'll definitely check out the Chok Chai restaurant at Sukhumvit. Might end up just going to the local pubs around Nana for my steak needs or some of the Japanese chains like Pepper Lunch. I'm surprised how overpriced steak is in Thailand. It makes steak in HK look cheap.

Thailand does have a beef market but if have ever eaten Thai beef you would choose to eat your shoe instead. Typically Thai's do not age their beef...From farm to market to shop! mcnugget
Arno's steak restaurant has excellent quality steak and good value too. u go into the on-site butcher area and pick your steak and weight u want from the counter and then they cut it for you and cook it
sasherz
Arno's looks amazing. Definitely on the list to try now. It's a bit out of the way but I guess I'll see an area I'd never normally have gone to.
tangman
Don't waste your time with chok chai. Yeah, it's really cheap but it might be worse than sizzler.
