Thai Election 24 March 2019

Recommended Posts

The election initially scheduled for 24 February 2019 will now be held on 24 March 2019. This is good news for myself, as I’ll be in BKK in February, but might cause others to want to rethink their travel/mongering plans.

(As far as I’m aware, bars and go-gos close (or at least can’t sell alcohol) on an Election Day (?).)

‘On 23 January 2019 the government announced that the long-awaited election would be held on 24 March 2019.’

Presume massage parlours & BJ bars would be open as normal?

Most likely.

Once I arrived in July on one of the Buddhist holidays and found a BJ bar open and was able to drink too.

Just seen this posted over on PA by a board member.

“Guys to summarize that due to elections, we expect bars to be officially closed & alcohol sales banned on the 2 dates as follows;

1. From 6pm Sat March 16th to Midnight on March 17/18th. Bars open on Mar 18th as normal.

2. From 6pm on Sat March 23rd to Midnight on March 24/25th. Bars open Mar 25th as normal

Please correct if the summary is incorrect.”
