Want to ask if anybody stayed at Aloft on Sukhumvit Soi 11. Currently I stay on Mercure on the same street. But am debating on switching to Aloft for points and status as I'm planning to get the Marriott Card. Currently looking at my trip during Songkran and am looking at USD200 more for the total stay at Aloft. Any input is much appreciated. Thanks.

I stayed at Aloft in July last year. I wrote http://www.bangkok-addicts.com/forum/topic/8165-aloft-hotel-soi-11-recent-reports/?hl=stayed>:

'stayed at Aloft for 4 nights. No complaints.

Reception staff were helpful, charming and sincere (and, in the case of the bird who checked me in, 10/10 drop dead gorgeous).

Room was large (I switched on the patter with Drop Dead G and got upgraded) and clean. Huge bed.

Wasn’t noisy at all (Levels nite club in basement rocking till 4am, so I was worried about the noise after what some folks said above) though I was on a high floor (25th floor, trivia fans). Slept like a log.

Good strong shower, no problems with water pressure or temperature whatever the hour.

Pool is nice: not huge, great views, good sun trap, and a large shaded chill area adjoining, scatter cushions and couches and newspapers and whatnot. Gym with new equipment that nobody was using. I didn’t take any birds back but it was definitely guest friendly: one bloke had a different two obvious tattooed tuppenny tarts with him at breakfast every day. Buffet breakfast is also great.

Clientele very nice, pleasant folks. Mix of Asians and Westerners.Younger mongers (apart from your old Uncle Tom and the other feller with a different tart twinset daily, natch), family groups and honeymoon couples. Couple of young single white chicks, one of whom I chatted up beside the pool. Blonde Dutch chick traveling solo, early 30s, slightly chubby but very sexy with great tits, Got her Line address. Reckon she’d have been game for some beer and a ride but she was checking out straight after the sunbathing and heading to Hua Hin...

Will definitely stay there again.

Refurbished Mercury, across the road (which someone mentioned above) looked very good too.'

Hope that helps. I'll be in BKK again next month. I'd definitely stay at Aloft again. In fact, fully intended to. But someone else is paying this time so...

Tom Tit

I've stayed a couple of times early on in my travels to BKK but have now changed to staying at the Four Points in Soi 15.

For gaining hotel rewards status it is a good cheap hotel but not one I would stay at with status.

My main reasons for swapping to the Four Points is the bed at Aloft I find a bit too hard and the damp smell in some of the rooms.

I believe they have removed carpet and laid vinyl flooring to combat this.

The other reason is the rooms only have a shower where Four Points also have a nice deep bath which I use for some bath time fun with my girl ;)

The Aloft when I stayed had a good buffet breakfast and from what uncle Tom Tit has said above still does.

Staff were always friendly, and the area is good for night life.

Make sure to look at the deals section of the hotels website as there might be one that brings the cost down a bit.

For the Four Points I have a flexible booking for mid April after Songkran cheaper than the prepaid rate after using one of the promo codes under the deals section.

I can tell you about both since I have stayed at both a number of times.  I am a Platinum SPG (now Marriott Bonvoy) member and since you are joining the program you should know  that Aloft Soi 11 does not participate fully in the program.  You can earn points, but you will not be able to use points to stay there nor do they offer complimentary upgrades to Gold or Platinum status members - first time I have seen that.  I think I stayed there 3 separate times and each time the registration took very very long - even in the Platinum concierge line.  The staff are great, but the place is super busy, and it slows everything down.  Probably the most annoying thing there was the almost non-existent WiFi bandwidth.  String signal but so very very slow.  I called to front desk, they send someone to reset router and still nothing.  Every room - every trip.  The seriously impacted my porn sessions with the girl of the evening.

So, I switched to Mercure and that this where I will stay when wanting to be in Soi 11.  I don't get Marriott points, but oh well.  I did sign-up for the free "Executive Club" program at Mercure which gave me plus 1 access to the executive club where we enjoyed very decent complimentary food and complimentary drinks every night.

I can strongly recommend JW Marriott if you want to be near Nana, and actually the service and pricing of the Four Points Hotel (Soi 15 maybe) is excellent, and close to Cowboy.  They upgrade you every time if they can.  Haven't stayed at Westin or Sheraton in BKK.  Hope this helps.

Good luck. TGS
